Cuyahoga River Cleanup

WHEN: August 30th

TIME: Starting at 8:00 AM, finish around 1:00 PM

WHERE: Start at John Brown Tannery Park

If spending the morning wading or floating the Cuyahoga River with a group of people who love nature and want to give back to the community sounds appealing, this is the place to be.

Since 2012, volunteers have removed dozens of tons of solid waste from the Kent section of the Cuyahoga River, including over 500 tires, a few hundred railroad ties, mattresses/furniture, and even part of a headstone from 1843.

The cleanup is mostly a wading event, but volunteers are welcome to work the banks or stay in the watercraft. Watercrafts are available on a first come first serve basis, as are work gloves. It’s highly recommended that participants do not wear open toed footwear, old work boots or tennis shoes are preferred. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Additionally, a waiver must be completed for each participant.
